Drogarati Cave
A WORLD OF CAVES AND..MUSIC?
Situated in the area of Haliotata, just 3 kilometers from Sami, lies the renowned Drogarati Cave. The entrance to the cave sits at an altitude of 120 meters and it extends down to a depth of 95 meters, with an average temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. It has been thoroughly explored by the Hellenic Speleological Society and is widely considered one of the most appropriate caves in Greece for speleotherapy.
Drogarati Cave boasts a spacious chamber (65 x 45 meters) with a height of around 20 meters, providing superb acoustics that have made it a sought-after venue for significant concerts, including performances by Maria Farantouri and vocal artist Ef. Karagianni. The cave can accommodate over 500 people.
The cave was formed as a result of an earthquake that struck the region 300 years ago, subsequently revealing its entrance. The cave is divided into two sections and is less than 100 meters in total length, with its rooms named the “Royal Balcony” and the “Apotheosis Room.”
